It's HDR Monday!

I don't know why, but I continue to be fascinated by the hdr photography thing. For those who don't know who are reading this, "hdr" stands for high dynamic range. It's a process of taking 3 or more photos of the exact same thing at different exposures ranging from dark to bright. There is software you can use that then allows you to use tone mapping to make a picture containing as much photographic information as possible. I use Photomatix Pro.

Things you normally would see in the shadows become visible, overly bright parts of the picture, like the sky or lights become normal. It's kind of like seeing things with your own eyes in real life. Kind of.

You can make some effects that are just crazy. Although I don't tend to like to get too crazy, I like to try and keep it somewhat natural. At any rate, I did 5 of these today, and tried to be a little ore liberal with the effet, and a little more artsy. New gallery HDR replaces the Still Life gallery, since all my pics there were HDR anyways.
